Welcome Back to Riverside!!!

Pat LaRue CFMS President-2000

On my way to Riverside

CFMS is going back to Riverside for its 2000 Convention and Show. We celebrated our 60th year of existence here in 1996. We will hold the first Convention and Show of the new millennium here in 2000. All activities will be held at the Riverside Convention Center.

The host club is working hard to make this event no less memorable than the ones which have preceded it. Lots of activities have been planned to keep you busy at the show and there is much to see and do in the surrounding area. In case you get bored hanging around the show, Riverside is located an hour from the mountains or an hour from the beach. You can take your pick!

Faceters will want to take advantage of the faceting symposium being hosted by the Faceters Guild of Southern California. Guest speakers and competition will be just a small part of the activities planned by that organization for symposium participants.

Those who choose to stay at the Holiday Inn will be right across the plaza from the Convention Center. A variety of restaurants and small shops are a short walk from the hotel. The hospitality committee promises to have a list of locations available. Otherwise feel free to explore.

Although Riverside is hot and humid in August, the Convention Center is air-conditioned. Show participants won't even know it's hot outside until they leave the building. Even the metal detecting hunt is being planned for the morning hours before it gets too warm.

Looking forward to seeing all of you there!
