Length of program: 30 to 45 minutes.
Advance notice time: At least 2 weeks but 1 month is better.
Area traveled: Only programs within 150 mile radius from Paradise, CA.
1. COPPER COLLECTING, AND COPPER RELATED MINERALS - Basic history, collecting areas, native copper, copper ore and re-growth copper. Mary will have specimens to look at and touch.
2. GEMSTONE BEADS AND MANMADE SYNTHETICS - Mary will bring examples to show.3. HISTORY OF BEADS - Mary will talk to your group about all types of beads. She will also go into depth about gemstones beads, what they are made of, which stones make good beads, which ones do not. She will also cover Pearls in this talk.
Mary Schisler was born in Michigan, when she was 12 years old she first became interested in Native Copper. Her interest in gemstone beads started in the 60s as her mineral and crystal collecting expanded beyond the element minerals. Mary is Past President of Paradise Gem & Mineral Club (1997-99); Past President of San Francisco Gem & Mineral Society (1993-94;) and has belonged to Mission Peak Mineral Society, Fremont; and to Walla Walla WA Mineral Society.
